Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actress, dancer and singer since the early 1990s. Some of her early Broadway productions include Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. She was awarded her Tony Award for Best Featured actress in the Play in the role of Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress and director, has spent the majority of her career working alongside prominent directors and actors on screen and in television. Ashford's upcoming project is an exclusive Hulu series titled Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show will premiere on the 22nd of November and Ashford is starring alongside Kumail Najiani. Ashford is currently in production on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The film will be aired on Disney DTC in the form of an Hulu Original. Ashford will be returning in 2023. He will star alongside Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the return of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will serve as the creators of the musical. Ashford most recently starred Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment that is based upon the national crisis that swept across the country. Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters as the nation's first impeachment proceedings in over one century. The two-season run she had on the CBS show B Positive was her first major part. The show was created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre it also featured legendary performers Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No new to Broadway Ashford has won Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her performance as Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde is among her other Broadway credits. Ashford is a native of Denver. She was born and raised in Denver and now lives in Los Angeles and New York.
